Nutrients are important substances that our bodies need to function properly. There are six main types of nutrients that we get from the food we eat: protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fat, and water. Protein is found in meat, fish, eggs, beans, and nuts, and helps to make us strong. Carbohydrates, found in bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes, give us energy to power through the day. Vitamins and minerals are found in a variety of foods, and help keep our bodies healthy and strong. Fat can be unhealthy in large amounts, but unsaturated fats, found in foods like olive oil, nuts, and fish, can be good for us in moderation. Finally, water is essential to life, and we can get it from drinking water, juice, and eating fruits and vegetables. By eating a variety of foods, we can make sure we get all the nutrients we need to stay healthy and strong.
