IV. Read the following passage and do as direct. (17-22)

Being friendly is an important skill that can help you a lot in school and in your future job. Get out of your safe zone to become friendlier. Join groups or clubs that share your interests; this is a natural way to meet people who share your interests. Actively taking part in class discussions and group projects will not only help you do better in school but also help you get to know your peers better.

Actively listen and ask open-ended questions to show that you are interested in what other people have to say. Keep in mind the names and little things about the people you meet; this will help you connect with them more deeply. To seem friendly, smile and keep your body language upbeat. It's okay to start a chat or ask someone to study or hang out with you.

Use social media to stay in touch, but make sure you also talk to people in person. Go to parties, events, and social get-togethers on campus to meet new people. Be willing to learn from people who have different backgrounds and points of view.

Finally, be real and honest with yourself. Honesty and mutual respect are the building blocks of real relationships. Your social group will grow, and your college experience will be more enjoyable if you give it time and effort.
