I live in a village by the Mekong River. Every day, like most of my friends, I walk to school. It’s three kilometers away. After class, I often help my mother collect water and feed the chickens. On weekends, villagers gather at the community hall where there is a TV. The adults usually talk about farm work and share news, while children run around, playing games and laughing loudly.
Sometimes, my father takes me to the nearby market town to sell our homegrown products like vegetables, fruits, and eggs. After that, he buys me an ice cream and lets me ride the electric train in the town square. I really enjoy those trips. At night, when the sky is full of stars, we lie on the grass, gaze at it, and dare each other to find the Milky Way. We often dream of faraway places.
