MY BEST FRIEND
My name is Jack and my best friend’s name is Nelson. We’re students at West London School. Nelson is very fit, and he’s really good at athletics. He’s only thirteen, but he’s the fastest runner in the school. A year ago he competed in the London Student Games. He was second in the 200-metre race and he won a silver medal!
Nelson wasn’t born in the UK. He came here from Brazil with his family when he was five years old. At first, he didn’t speak English, so it was difficult for him to make friends. But he learned quickly, and his English is perfect now.
When I leave school I’m going to study science at university. But Nelson wants to be an athlete, or maybe a footballer. He’s going to go to a special sports college next year. I think he’ll be famous one day!
