It was a very sunny morning on Friday. Fred got up, had breakfast with his brother, and then read his new comic and looked at all the pictures in it.
Then he put his book and pens in his school bag and said ‘Goodbye’ to his family.
He rode his bike to school and put it next to the long wall there. All his friends’ bikes were there too.
Fred went his classroom and sat down. He put his school books on the desk and took off his jacket because it was hot in the room.
The room was very quiet because the teacher wasn’t there. No children were there, only Fred.
Then he looked out of the window. He saw lots of people outside on the grass.
Fred saw his teacher there with his guitar. All his friends were there, too.
In front of them were two clowns. The first clown threw a tomato and it went in the second clown’s mouth. All the children laughed. Fred thought, ‘Oh, yes! It’s our last day of school today.
It’s the school party today, not lessons!’ Then he ran outside and sat down with his friends.

On Saturday, I phoned Ben. He said, ‘I’m sorry. My dad has to work on Sunday. He can’t drive me to your house’. Then I phoned Kim. ‘No, I’m sorry.’ she said. I’m with my cousins that day.’
I started to cry. I wanted my friends with me on my birthday. Mum said, ‘ Don’t be sad. Grandma and Grandpa can come here that evening.’

On Sunday evening, I was unhappy but I went to my bedroom and put on my party dress. Then I went outside to the garden and all my friends were there!
We all laughed. Then they gave me a nice yellow kite. I was very surprised!
My grandparents were there too, and Kim brought her cousins. We danced a lot and they all sang ’Happy Birthday’ to me. It was great!

My name’s Tom and I have a friend who’s called Rainbow Monster. He waits for me in the cupboard when it rains. I open the cupboard and there he is! He’s a big and happy monster who is all the colours of the rainbow. I laugh at him and jump on his back. He says, ‘Where do you want to go today, Tom?’ and I always say. ‘You choose!’.
Last week, we flew to a beautiful island. The weather was hot and sunny.
We went swimming with pink dolphins, we ate moon fruit, and in the evening we danced on the beach under the stars.
Then we went home because I was tired and hungry. ‘Here!’ Rainbow Monster said, when I went to bed, ‘Take this box. I found it on the island. Don’t open it now. Open it in the morning.’
In the morning, I thought about my Rainbow Monster and the box. It was under my bed. I looked inside and found a moon fruit tree! It was a very small one. I carried it carefully outside and put it in my garden.
When I’m sad, I always look at the moon fruit tree and then start smiling again!
